The monument of Enlik and Kebek.

Adventure holiday in Altai mountains Kazakhstan.

“...it seemed a part of her life, to step from the ancient to the modern, back and forth. She felt rather sorry for those who knew only one and not the other. It was better, she thought, to be able to select from the whole menu of human achievements than to be bound within one narrow range”

The monument of Enlik and Kebek was established in 1960 by local youth in Abay district of East Kazakhstan area near an automobile road on the way from Semipalatinsk to Karaul settlement as a tribute to legendary couple of lovers, as a symbol of true love.
It is a love story. A strict and majestic monument to lovers - Enlik and Kebek - and now a call to tragic destiny, proving power of love in the Middle Ages, the mountain Shyngystau the homeland of Great Abay. Two sorts of Matay and Tobykty howling among themselves.
The Cupid's arrow does not know barriers and so it turned out that IT from a sort Argyn, fell in love with IT from a sort Naiman. It happened so that Kebek got on a wintering to enemies and fell in love with Enlik. But all were against their love, as well as two conflicting sorts which allegedly will marry the children, but to it was not to happen.
For the first time the poem under the name "The Word Which Remained in Memory of Kazakhs" was published in the Dala Ualayaty newspaper (No. 31 - 39) in 1892. In this option events of the poem are covered from the national point of view, it is distinguished by sympathy to lovers and hatred for their persecutors.
Despite separate shortcomings of composition, language and style, the poem is valuable reliability and typicalness of the conflict represented in it. In 1900 in No. 46 of the Dala Ualayaty newspaper other version of the poem under the name "History of Life of Kazakhs" in which the initial subject line is kept was published, but heroes bear other names.

For the first time "Enlik - Kebek" was put in the aul of Abay in 1917, the author acted as the director and the prompter of this statement.
In 1923 and 1956 the play was several times processed. If in the first options the author criticized intergeneric распрю, the play exposed in the subsequent all feudal system, gained high civil pathos. In 1924 members of the Central club of KazSSR of the All-Russian Union of Communistic youth put the second version of the play.
