Mosque Kosh House.

City tour of Samarkand.

“For everything in this journey of life we are on, there is a right wing and a left wing: for the wing of love there is anger; for the wing of destiny there is fear; for the wing of pain there is healing; for the wing of hurt there is forgiveness; for the wing of pride there is humility; for the wing of giving there is taking; for the wing of tears there is joy; for the wing of rejection there is acceptance; for the wing of judgment there is grace; for the wing of honor there is shame; for the wing of letting go there is the wing of keeping. We can only fly with two wings and two wings can only stay in the air if there is a balance. Two beautiful wings is perfection. There is a generation of people who idealize perfection as the existence of only one of these wings every time. But I see that a bird with one wing is imperfect. An angel with one wing is imperfect. A butterfly with one wing is dead. So this generation of people strive to always cut off the other wing in the hopes of embodying their ideal of perfection, and in doing so, have created a crippled race”

Walking on the architectural monuments of Samarkand.

The Kosh House mosque was built in Samarkand in 1319 AH, as evidenced by a special inscription. According to the minister of the mosque, Amrilo Zubaidullaev, this religious building was erected on the remains of an even earlier mosque.
Most of these religious buildings, as a rule, were laid near the burial site of the remains of saints. However, in the case of the Kosh House mosque such information is not available. It is likely that this place was chosen due to the fact that there were two ancient houses that provided people with drinking water.
Hence the name of the mosque "Kosh House" - ("Two (pair) houses"). The mosque was built of burnt bricks. Initially, on three sides the mosque was surrounded by an ayvan. In Soviet times, part of the territory adjacent to the mosque on the left side of the territory was taken for the construction of common courtyards, and the aivan located on this side was demolished.
At present, the suspended structures are preserved from the front and right side. In Soviet times, there was a workshop for the production of kurpaches, national blankets in the building of the mosque, and later production of stone monuments was opened here.
In 2002 – 1003, during the restoration works, 4 hujras and an ablution room were built here. On the territory of the object there is a valid minaret. Currently, up to 300 people can pray at the same time inside the mosque and under the aivans.
