Short trip to sights Ulytau monuments.

"The gallery created under the open sky by artists of a classical antiquity is surprising. The engravings cut on stones - the invaluable cultural heritage left in Kazakhstan from our far ancestors"

Academician A. H. Margulan.

Short detour from Kazakhstan to Kyrgyzstan.

Rock paintings Tamdy are located in Ulytau district of the Karaganda region on rocks from two sides of the river Tamdy. Petroglyphs are represented on flat blocks over river level on 2 - 4 meters, and in some places on an uneven surface.
Many drawings have copies. According to V. A. Novozhenov copying of rock paintings depended on a condition of flat stones and on technology of the image. In many cases petroglyphs are beaten out by a thin subject, drawing in detail figures thin lines.
On one party people, roes, hunting onions - a hunting subject, and on other party are represented: elks, horses. In some places it is possible to see the running wolves, people on horses, on a background a caravan (camels).
The Kazakhstan archeologist A. H. Margulan writes about drawings on the river Baikonur: "As skillfully the stateliness of two-humped camels, a beautiful bearing of quick racers, grace of deer and a saiga, an image of a predatory leopard are also skillfully represented".
In summertime water in the river Tamdy dries and gathers in ravines, forming the small lake. At the time of the Great Silk way caravans satisfied thirst and remained here on a lodging for the night. Drawings are located on rocks from two sides of the river.
