Saline march Mertvyi Kultuk is located at the gulf Komsomol member, on the northeast coast of the Caspian Sea in Mangystau Region of Kazakhstan. The most extended east and northeast parts of Saline march Mertyi Kultuk makes nearly 100 kilometers.
A northern part of litter Mertvyi Kultuk was stretched nearly 80 kilometers. In the forties the XXth century the most part of the gulf Komsomol member with lowering of the level of the Caspian Sea turned into the extensive salt site - Saline march Mertvyi Kultuk.
The area of the gulf Komsomol member decreased from 15000 kilometers square to 500 kilometers square. Now water level in Kaspiye increases therefore Mertvyi Kultuk increases, and once drying up gulf Kaydak is filled with water again.
