Bartrud Eastern Glacier is located at an altitude: upper limit is 5888.2 meters above sea level, of glacier is 2934 meters above sea level, glacier is located on northern slope of Mazor Range, in Sangvor region, Republic of Tajikistan.
On the northern slope of the Mazor ridge there is a group of Bartrud glaciers - the Bartrud East glacier is the largest of them. It has an extensive, highly elevated feeding area and a wide part. Before entering the widening valley, the glacier is broken by a high rocky step, below which a new glacier about 2 kilometers long is formed, almost completely covered by a moraine.
History of observations of Bartrud Eastern glacier.
Observations of the glacier began in 1958. From 1958 to 1976, the glacier retreated by 210 meters, an average of 10 meters per year, freeing 0.11 square kilometers of ice. From 1975 to 1990, it retreated another 261 meters at a rate of 16.3 meters per year. From 1987 to 1990, it retreated another 40 meters at a rate of 13 meters per year, freeing up 0.019 square kilometers.
