The brief description of a route of an excursion trip on cave painting Almaty and Zhambyl provinces:

Almaty - settlement Samsy - settlement Targap - railway station Kopa - settlement Karabastau - natural boundary Tamgaly – petroglyphs Ak-Kainar - settlement Matybulak – station Otrar - station Anrakhai - settlement Akterek - gorge Akterek - Almaty.

Distance of the route: 479 km.
Season: from March, 20th till October, 30th.
 The Best time for excursion: April - September
The advanced order: for 48 hours.
Duration of the tour: 3 days, 2 nights.

The detailed program of an excursion trip to cave painting Tamgaly, Ak-Kainar, Kulzhabasy, Ak-Terek:

Cave paintings and Petroglyphs Kazakhstan.

1 Day. Almaty - settlement Samsy - settlement Targap - railway station Kopa - settlement Karabastau - natural boundary Tamgaly (170 km, 3 hours).
The Way from Almaty to cave painting Tamgaly (Tanbaly) conducts on the West on a motorway of Almaty - Bishkek. We pass pair small settlements Samsy and Targap and after 103 kilometers it is turned off, on road, to the right to station Kopa.
Through 60 kilometers we at the purpose. After settlement Karabastau from the basic road we turn off on the left to the nearest hills, here a park platform for motor vehicles, canopies with tables and benches, toilets, a small house of workers of reserve Tamgaly. The further way to figures, about 600 meters we shall do on foot.
Excursion and walks on cave painting in natural boundary Tamgaly, visiting of ancient burial grounds and burial places in vicinities of reserve Tamgaly, photographing of figures and vicinities.
In second half of day transfer: valley Tamgaly - settlement Karabastau - natural boundary Ak-Kainar (43 km). After settlement Karabastau our way lays on steppe road which is twisted among low hills. Walk to cave painting. Accommodation in tents at the big tree at the third group cave painting, overnight in tents.
2 Day. Valley Ak-Kainar - settlement Matybulak - station Otrar - station Shynarau - station Anrakhai – petroglyphs Kulzhabasy - station of Otrar - settlement Akterek - gorge Akterek (150 km).
Transfer: Ak-Kainar – petroglyphs Kulzhabasy (54 km). Arrival on petroglyphs Kulzhabasy. Excursion and walks on cave painting Kulzhabasy, visiting of settlements, burial grounds, photographing of figures and vicinities, walks. In second half of day transfer: mountains Kulzhabasy - gorge Akterek (105 km). Arrival in gorge Akterek. Accommodation in tents in picturesque gorge at the river Akterek, overnight in the tents.
3 Day. Gorge Akterek - settlement Akterek - settlement Targap - settlement Samsy - Almaty (150 km). 
Excursion and walks on cave painting Akterek, visiting of settlements, photographing of figures and vicinities, walks. In second half of day transfer: gorge Akterek – Almaty.
