There is a legend about the magician Balkhash and his beautiful daughter Ile, whose fame was known in the whole steppe.
Ile fell in love with Karatal, who was brave and smart but poor dzhigit. ?
Karatal won in all the contests and overcame all the difficulties set by almighty Balkhash.
But the father did not want have a poor son-in-law. The lovers escaped from injustice and then Balkhash ran to the steppe and turned into the big lake.
Since, the lake was called Balkhash.
The magician turned Ile and Karatal into the rivers, which flow into the lake from different places.
