The mausoleum of Shamet Ishan dates from the XIXth century, located near the trading square of the village of Karnak, which is subordinate to the city administration of Kentau, Turkestan region.
The construction of the mausoleum took place in several stages (saint of the tomb, mosque, madrassah) and entered the general architectural complex, which had developed by the 70s of the XIX century.
The building of the mosque includes a large hall for prayers, a small hall - a khilvet, apparently adapted from the early Saint of the tomb, a utility room and a corridor. The difference in the stages of construction of these buildings was reflected in the planning composition, and in significant differences in the heights of floor levels reaching 1.5 meters.
The complex was completed by the architectural and decorative of all the premises included in the single volume of the building and received the general interior decoration in the form of gypsum stucco and wall paintings remotely repeating the decoration of the Turkestan khanaki Ahmed Yasavi (stalactites, socle panel, blue tone, floral nature of the wall paintings) .
The courtyard facade of the mosque is decorated with a high aivan with polychrome painted wooden ceiling details. Both halls on the facade are highlighted by false domes, partially hidden under a late, iron roof.
Finally, the complex was formed by the extension of the madrasah, which is a L-shaped one-story building with numerous small rooms - hujras (rooms of students of the madrasah), connected by a common aivan from the courtyard.
