On November 29, 2018, in the year of the 90th anniversary of the Sandyktau region, within the framework of the Rukhani Zhangyru program, the celebration of the Day of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan was marked by a long-awaited event, a new historical museum of local lore opened its doors.
The Museum of Local History and Local History is located in the regional center of Balkashino, Sandyktau district, Akmola region. The village is located on the Zhabay River (a tributary of Ishim), on a highway 85 kilometers north of Atbasar railway station.
In the vicinity of the village there is a forest-steppe and resort area, where rocky hills, fields and mixed forests alternate. There are picturesque reservoirs and springs (Zinoveevka, Novonikolskoye, Police spring, Lake Kumdykol).
The museum was created on the basis of the exposition hall, where there are exhibits, historical documents telling about the history of the Sandyktau region. The museum has over 2,000 exhibits. 7,000,000 tenge was allocated from the local budget for the arrangement of the museum.
Museum exhibits personally show how our fellow countrymen lived and worked before, celebrated holidays, how their life was different, customs and rituals, and what folk crafts have survived to this day or are being reborn today.
The unique expositions of the museum, which opened in the year of the 90th anniversary of the district, aroused great interest. Already, the museum has occupied two floors of the renovated old building. Of greatest interest is the Hall of Glory of the district, which tells about fellow countrymen who glorified Sandyktau throughout the country.
These are six Heroes of the Soviet Union and 14 Heroes of Socialist Labor, which is noteworthy, nine workers received awards for the development of virgin and fallow lands. Among them are Nurgabyl Molgozhdarov, the foreman from the village of Priozerny and Raisa Voronina from the village of Balkashino, the only female doctor of the region awarded with such a high order.
Young people come with interest to the Hall of Friendship of Peoples, where objects of ancient Kazakh and Russian everyday life, other ethnic groups living in the region are presented. The Silk Road exposition reveals one of the very bright pages of the past, which is typical, the exhibits for it were made by the young talents of the local House of Creativity.
The “Batyr Hall” reveals the ancient history of the region, the great khans, batyrs and akyns have always been the pride of Kazakhstan. The economy of the district at the beginning of the last century is represented by the history of the district’s oldest enterprise, the Profintern plant, formed in 1913.
During the Soviet period, there were 47 collective farms; it is noteworthy that each of them maintained itself and still carried out the plan for deliveries to the state. The bitter pages of the war years are also reflected in the exhibits of the museum. In 1941, more than 8,000 residents from the villages of the Sandyktau region went to war.
Unique items from the battlefields of the 310th, 29th and 187th Rifle Divisions were handed over to the museum by a search squad from the Sandyktau children's home. Here you can also see the military uniforms of Abdugapar Mustafin and Zhazit Seksembaev - fellow countrymen who went to the front in 1942, and numerous other originals of the war years.
An interesting collection of banknotes was donated to the museum by the chairman of the Council of Veterans Boris Germanovich Lotz. Foreign currency is of historical value: banknote of a German bank issued in 1910, Polish banknotes of 1941 - 1944 issued, Russian banknotes issued in 1905 - 1910.
Surprising is the nature hall, revealing the rich nature of Sandyktau, where more than 40 species of mammals, 100 species of birds, several species of reptiles and amphibians and about 20 species of fish are found.
There are a lot of antiques of past years in the museum halls: a typewriter of the 1912 model, a gramophone and records, a spinning wheel, blacksmith furs and much more. The beauty of their native places is revealed by the work of local artists, masters of applied art, in the art hall you can also see wicker baskets from vines, papier-mâché and beads.
