Legend of Mount Kelinshektau.

Nature tours of Turkestan region.

“I haven't finished revisiting Sleeping Beauty. As a faerie tale, that one is rife with inherent difficulties. After all, the world doesn't stop just because one person is asleep”

Anna Sheehan, A Long, Long Sleep.

Nature of Turkestan region.

“Either a hundred, or thousands of years ago, at the foot of Karatau there was one noble buy. And the only daughter was Bai - Aisulu. The beauty of the girl became known to all the people, and when she was 15 years old, they began to get married to her.
But the girl’s father warned that he would marry his daughter only by her consent. And all the same, she found an equal dzhigit, to whom she agreed. But the story is not about that. That buy for the sake of his only daughter spared nothing and prepared a large and rich jasau - a dowry, and gave his blessing - a baht to the young.
They say akyns who saw her dowry even for several days could not describe everything that was in it. Everything was very expensive and luxurious, sewn with gold threads, silk. Shanyrak was made of gold; uyk is made of silver.
And so, placing everything on 60 camels, my father gave a leash of everything personally to her hands and said - be pleased my beloved. And so the caravan set off towards Karatau. They were coming, and her daughter either had curiosity or something, she decided to look around with what they gave her in jasau.
And suddenly, out of all the luxury, she noticed that the dishes for dogs (itқ) were made of simple apricot wood. Seeing this, she said: "What stinginess, the father had to make ita out of silver." With these words, she sent her husband back to her father’s village, so that he would correct it and make ita out of silver.
The wise father, who regretted nothing at jasau and released her with a clear conscience, was very upset at hearing this. At that moment he was so painful that in his hearts he gave her the teris bata: “You have a stone heart, so become a stone.”
At this moment, all the dowry - camels, a yurt, dishes and everything that was in the dowry became a stone. This mountain is still standing, and its daughter, turned into stone, still stands there.”
