The Mausoleum of Balpyk Biy is located on the outskirts of the village of Oyan in the Karatal district, Almaty region, not far from the Ushtobe-Kalpe automobile road, Balpyk Biy Derbisaliuly (1705 - 1780) (Togshibaev and Suzhikova indicate 1694 as the year of birth and 1804 deaths) Kazakh batyr, biy, a participant in the struggle of Kazakhs against the Zhongar invasion in the XVIIIth century.
He came from the Andas clan of the Jalayir of the Elder Zhuz. The ancestor of Balpyk Derbisaliuly was a descendant of Kalki ata - Duisenby - Derbisali. Balpyk Biy was a companion of Eskeldy, another prominent Biy and commander of the Jalaiyr tribe.
From the 17th century the bloody war of the Kazakhs continued with the juggars that ravaged the Kazakh nomads, exterminating the civilian population and pushing it into less favorable territories. After the battle of Anirakai, the main forces of the Zhongars, pursued by the great Kazakh commanders Khan of the younger zhuz Abylkhaiyr, Karakerey Kabanbay, Kanjigaly Bogenbai, Shapyrashty Nauryzbay, Zhanys Otegen, Alban Raiymbek, retreated to the areas of the rivers Ile, Koksal, Lake Balash, Karat.
During the Dzungarian invasion, Balpyk with his associates Eskeldi and Kaban-zhpayom led the army of Jalairov. He participated in several military campaigns, in battles near Anirakai, Ayagoz, Taskesken.
