The Lokomotiv peak is located at an altitude of 4209.4 meters above sea level, located in the Maloalmatinsky spur on the northern slope of the Zailiysky Alatau ridge, on the territory of the Ile-Alatau park in the Bostandyk district of Almaty.
The Lokomotiv peak is located 515 meters southwest of the Gorelnik peak, 4181 meters above sea level, 2.7 kilometers southwest of the Sovetov peak, 4317 meters above sea level. Between the peaks Lokomotiv and Soviets lies the Soviet Builders Pass (Memory of Friends) 3899 meters above sea level.
The Tuyuksu glacier is located on the western slopes of Lokomotiv peak. The ascent to Lokomotiv peak along the classic route was assigned a category of complexity 1B. The first ascent to the summit was made in 1940 by a group of the Tuyuksu alpine camp under the leadership of V. Kuzmin.
