Visit to St. Michael Archangel Cathedral in Uralsk.

This Orthodox cathedral is the oldest building in Uralsk. Built in the 1740s, it bears witness to all the city's historical events. A fortress wall once surrounded the cathedral. During the Pugachev Rebellion, rebellious Cossacks besieged a detachment of government troops stationed in the fortress, sent after the suppression of the 1772 uprising, but were unable to take it.
Not far from the cathedral is the house of the "Tsar's Bride's" father, the wealthy Cossack Kuznetsov, now home to the Pugachev Museum.

The cathedral is also popularly known as the "golden" church. It was built in honor of the 300th anniversary of the Ural Cossack Host's service to the Moscow Tsar, celebrated in 1891.

The oldest building in Uralsk, once the residence of the Cossack ataman. The building's façade is decorated with memorial plaques indicating that Pushkin, Zhukovsky, Dahl, and Tolstoy stayed here during their visits to Uralsk. Only historical documents indicate that the Tsareviches and future Emperors Alexander and Nicholas also stayed here.
The building was constructed in 1825 according to the designs of the Italian military architect M. Delmedino for the acting ataman D.M. Borodin.

A tour of regional akimat building in Uralsk.

This building formerly housed the Russian Industrial and Commercial Bank. The building's main decoration is the lion statues in the niches of the entrance. Built in 1896 by the architect A. Bunkin, the building's sides were decorated with sculptures of Cossacks holding huge sturgeons, followed by the traditional Soviet worker and collective farm woman.

A tour of merchant Karev's house in Uralsk.

Karev's house is today one of the most famous architectural landmarks in Uralsk, built in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. For a long time, it was considered the largest building in the city. Rumor has it that Karev decided to build this house as revenge against his acquaintance, the merchant Ovchinnikov, who loved to drink tea on his balcony while watching the sunrise.
After an argument, Karev promised the tea lover he would never see the sunrise again. And indeed, he never did. Across from Ovchinnikov's house, a new, enormous house appeared, blocking the merchant's entire view of the picturesque rising sun.

A tour of Vanyushin merchant house in Uralsk.

This house became the very building that surpassed Karev's house in size. This remarkable building, built in the 1870s, later housed a commercial club, an agricultural technical school, and during the war, a military school evacuated from Odessa.
A Pioneer House was then moved here, and it currently houses one of the city's secondary schools.

Visit Yemelyan Pugachev House Museum in Uralsk.

In 1991, this unique historical monument was transferred to the regional history and local history museum.
