Tajik State Pedagogical University named after S. Aini is located on Rudaki Avenue and the corner of Said Nosirov Street, 250 meters northwest of the National Bank of Tajikistan in the city of Dushanbe. Tajik State Pedagogical University named after S. Aini (taj. Donishgohi pressure of omuzgori Tojikiston ba nom S. Aini) is a higher educational institution of the Republic of Tajikistan.
It enjoys the status of a state higher educational professional institution of the Republic of Tajikistan. TSPU named after S. Aini is under the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Tajikistan. The university is one of the leading universities in the Republic of Tajikistan, which mainly trains teachers and educators for the education system.
Education of students at the university is carried out in 34 specialties. In 2012, more than 8,000 students studied at TSPU and 585 teachers worked. TSPU named after S. Aini was founded in 1931. The original names of the university are Stalinabad Pedagogical Institute, Dushanbe Pedagogical Institute named after T. G. Shevchenko.
It was the first educational institution in Tajikistan. At first, only one faculty worked at the university. In the first years, only 12 teachers conducted classes. Many graduates have become prominent scientists, teachers and have been awarded government awards.
During its existence, the Tajik State Pedagogical University has become a major higher educational institution of the republic with a large number of highly qualified scientific and pedagogical personnel, successfully combining educational, research and scientific and methodological work.
The Pedagogical University has a scientific and technical potential (more than 30 doctors of sciences, professors, 125 candidates of sciences, associate professors), who are engaged not only in pedagogical activities, but also successfully conduct fundamental research, supervise the work of graduate students and doctoral students.
Since 1936, on the basis of the university, there has been a postgraduate course, and since 1961, doctoral studies in various fields. A lot of work is being done to prepare candidates of sciences. Many graduates of postgraduate studies, having defended candidate dissertations, and some doctoral dissertations, work in scientific institutions and higher educational institutions of the republic and beyond its borders.
From 1978 to 2004, the Dissertation Council for the defense of doctoral works in the specialty 13.00.01 - general pedagogy, history of pedagogy and education (pedagogical sciences) was created and functioned at the university, chaired by Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor I. Obidov. 
In the course of the Council's activity, 18 doctoral and 115 master's theses were successfully defended. In 1990, the university was named after the former rector - Kandil Juraev. In 2007, the Tajik State Pedagogical University was named after the great Tajik writer Sadriddin Aini.
TSPU students annually participate in republican interuniversity olympiads and various competitions and events. In 2014, over 11 thousand students studied at 13 faculties of full-time and part-time departments. The University prepares specialists for secondary schools in 48 specialties

The educational process at TSPU today is carried out on the basis of state education standards for flexible curricula. Students have the opportunity, if necessary, to continue their education at any specialized (in the areas of training) university in the CIS.
The first level of student training is carried out with a training period of 2 years and corresponds to the fundamental training of specialists (incomplete higher education); the second level - with a term of study of 4 years (bachelor, complete higher education); the third level - with a period of study of 5 years (master, complete higher education).
Training of specialists at TSPU is also carried out according to the traditional training scheme - with a standard period of 5 years (specialist - teacher, complete higher education).
