Square of the State Flag of the Republic of Tajikistan (Taj. Bogi Parchami Tojikiston) is located 430 meters northwest of the Rudaki Park, 320 meters northeast of the Palace of Nations. The Square of the State Flag of the Republic of Tajikistan is located 260 meters east of the khakimyat in the central part of the city of Dushanbe, on the left bank of the river (Varzob) of Dushanbinka.
The layout of the square (park) included an artificial lake with a fountain, wide rectangular alleys with a cascade of fountains, small architectural forms, sculptures depicting historical heroes of the past and the new building of the National Museum of Tajikistan.
The entire territory of the square (park) is decorated with alleys and paths with benches, combined with carpet greenery, trees, flowers and ornamental shrubs. According to the master plan of the city of Dushanbe in 1966, then in 1983 (architects V. Bugaev, I. Golovina, F. Saifiddinov, O. Vasilyeva, N. Ulyanova, engineer A. Soin) and subsequently after the announcement of a competition for projects for the construction of a state complex, in In the center of the city, a territory was designed for the construction of a state complex, including the Palace of Nations, the squares of the state flag and the state emblem, and other structures.
The construction of the flagpole began on November 24, 2010, when Tajikistan celebrated National Flag Day. The official opening took place on August 30, 2011 and was timed to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the independence of the republic, which was celebrated on September 9.
The design phase of the flagpole was started in 2009, its central sections were completed in 2010 in Dubai and then shipped to Dushanbe. The final assembly and installation of the flagpole took place in April and May 2011.
The cost of construction work on the construction of the structure was estimated at 3.5 million dollars, it was part of a project to modernize the city for the 20th anniversary of the independence of Tajikistan. Not far from the flagpole there is another attraction - a monument, 45 meters high, on which the five-meter coat of arms of Tajikistan is placed.
Every year, many tourists gather here to see the attraction with their own eyes. The flagpole, built in Tajikistan, was included in the Guinness Book of Records as the highest flagpole in the world and was such until September 2014, when a flagpole 170 meters high was installed in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia).
The corresponding certificate was presented to the President of Tajikistan by the representative of the Guinness Book of Records. The height of the flagpole was 165 meters. The area of the flag is 1800 square meters, width - 30 meters, length - 60 meters, weight - 420 kilograms, the design consists of 12-meter steel pipes.
