The river Barskoon flows across the territory of Dzhety-Oguzsky district of the Issyk-Kul region. Kerege-Tash 3684 meters high above sea level begins in the central part of the Terskey Ala-Too with the pass and the lake Issyk-Kul flows into the small gulf Barskaun on the southern coast.
River Barskoon extent 62 kilometers, the area of a reservoir is 352 kilometers of square. The river Barskoon has over 40 inflows, large of them: rivers Dyungyuryomyo, Sharkyrak, At-Dzhayloo, Dzhany-Korgon, Kerege-Tash, etc.
The main source of food - thawed snow and glacial snow. The high water begins in May and comes to an end in September. Average annual consumption of water of 4,07 meters per second. In the east the village of Barskon is located.
The river Barskoon flows on the gorge Barskon, cuts a northern slope of Ridge Terskey Ala-Too in the meridional direction, only in the top part accepts the width direction (a river basin Kerege-Tash). Barskoon the mountain gorge is located at the height from 1800 to 3500 meters above sea level.
Is in Dzhety-Oguzsky district of the Issyk-Kul region. The gorge cuts a northern slope Ridge Terskey Ala-Too in the meridional direction, only in the top part accepts the width direction (a river basin Kerege-Tash). It is stretched from the axial line of Ridge Terskey Ala-Too to the narrow lakeside plain on the southern coast Issyk-Kul.
Length from sources of the river of the same name to the lakeside plain of 57 kilometers. Height of boards over the bottom from 300 - 500 meters (in the foothills) to 1000 - 1200 meters. Steep slopes (over 45 degrees), often steep.
Gorge upper courses - area of a modern freezing with trough valley, glacial cirque and a various thin relief. A gorge bottom Barskoon narrow (width no more than 100 - 150 meters), places forms expansions (to 300 - 400 meters), is cut through and deepened the rivers Barskon and her inflows.
The lower part of the gorge where there are trailing glaciers and snowflakes, is laid within the foothills, put tertiary, mainly by Neogene conglomerates and loessoid to anthropogene loams. It is used as a pasture. Barskoon passes the highway on Upper Naryn and Akshyyrak wide and shallow morainic depression through the gorge.
In the gorge forest security and forest recovery work is conducted. In the gorge there are falls Barskon - a nature sanctuary. The pass Barskoon is located at the height of 3754 meters above sea level in Mountains Terskey Ala-Too on a water separate crossing point between the Issyk-Kkul hollow and riverheads of Arabelsu and Arabel hollow.
The pass Barskoon is in Dzhety-Oguz district in the southern part of the Issyk-Kul region. Through the pass the highway A 364 which connects the southern coast of the Lake Issyk Kul to the mine Kumtor, the frontier post Karasay and the settlement located in the east of the plateau Akshiyrak - Uchkoshkon is paved.
To the south from the pass Barskoon, to the right of the road, is in 600 meters the small lake Barskoon from which the river follows and flows into the southern part of the Lake Issyk-Kul. In 3 kilometers on the South the mountain lake Dzhashyl-Kol at the height of 3779,1 meters above sea level is located.
In 8 kilometers to the west from the pass there is a dominating mountain Chymchyk 4467,2 meters high above sea level. The highway through the pass Barskoon is open all the year round. Around the high-mountain pass are situated peaks, which had a height 4386 – 4512 meters above sea level and northern glacier.
The northern part is short and steep, the southern part is low and sloping. Thorough Barskon travels motorway connecting inside Tein-Shan with Issyk-Kul valley.
