Outstanding architectural monuments of Ulytau.

"If a nation does not know its history, if a country loses its history, then after it they themselves can easily disappear."

Mausoleum of Kustabay and Zhanul is located at an altitude of 440 meters above sea level, in central part of ancient cemetery of Duzen Sandybay, 705 meters from right (western) bank of Kara-Kengir River, 4.1 kilometers southwest of village of Kokolen, 19.1 kilometers northwest of village of Malshybay, 54 kilometers southwest of village of Algabas (Betbulak) in Ulytau district of region of same name.
"Among the tombstones, two small mausoleums erected in the ancient cemetery of Duzen Sandybay on the graves of the sons of Zhuzden - Kustabay and Zhanul attract attention. The latter in volumetric and compositional terms are solved as domed structures (gumbezes) with small primitive peshtaks.
On the main axis there are small arched niches, in the depths of which, in the back wall, there are entrances inside also in the form of arched openings. For the architectural design of the facades, simple means were used: figured brickwork and ceramic stamped tiles with patterns 32 x 32 cm for the frieze.
The material for both monuments was adobe and burnt brick of a new type - vershok measurement; the latter was used only for the cladding of the external and internal surfaces of the walls, on the arches and domes. Both mausoleums were built in the late 90s of the XIX and early XX centuries. Now the mausoleum of Zhanul is lost, only the lower part of the mausoleum remains.
