Moraine lakes in Maloalmatinsky gorge.

Flowing, fresh, moraine lake named after Manshuk Mametova or No. 6 is located at an altitude of 3603 meters above sea level, is located in right, side gorge, which departs from main Maloalmatinsky gorge, 26 kilometers southeast of Almaty, on northern slope of Zailiysky Alatau ridge, in Medeu district of Almaty. 
The water filled the depression formed by the tongue of the Mametova glacier and this is how the lake was formed. The length of the lake from the southwest to the northeast is 212 meters, the greatest width in the central part reaches 100 meters.
The area of ​​the lake is 34,713 square meters, the shoreline of the lake is 520 meters. The lake got its name from the glacier of the same name, the tongue of which descends into the lake with its western part. In winter, the lake freezes, it is freed from ice only in June.
The lake periodically changes its color depending on the weather. In the vicinity of the lake there are several popular peaks reaching 4000 meters above sea level, which are popular among local climbers and visitors to the city. These are: Amangeldy, 3999 meters above sea level, Pioner, 4031 meters above sea level, Uchitel, 4045 meters above sea level, named after 28 Panfilov Heroes, 4120 meters above sea level, Manshuk Mametova, 4194 meters above sea level, and the last one is Antikainen, 4000 meters above sea level.
In 2016, a road was built to Lake Mametova, along which heavy earthmoving equipment climbed to the lake. With the help of bulldozers, a canal was dug through which water from the lake is discharged down into the bed of a stream flowing out of the lake.
