The Kazakh State Academic Theater for Children and Youth named after Gabit Musrepov (Youth Theater) as an independent collective was formed in 1985, and together with the Russian collective as part of a single youth theater exists since August 4, 1946.
In 1946, the Kazakh troupe was founded. The founders of the theater are Honored Artists of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mambetova A., Smailov A., People's Artist of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Bakhtygereev M. At different times, the national artists of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Kaldaev B., Sattarova S., Seytmetov P., Umurzakova A., worked in the theater. Zhakibaev K., Kenzhekov A., Honored Artists of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Kulambaev M., Bektasova Zh., Demesinov K. Theater Director D. Zholzhaksynov - People's Artist of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Honored Artist of Kyrgyzstan, laureate of the State Prize of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Director - N. Zhakypbaev, Honored Worker of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
In 1967, the Youth Theater was awarded the Lenin Komsomol Prize of Kazakhstan for the play “First Sparks” by Sh. Khusainov, and A. Kenzhekov played the role of Gani Muratbaev. The origins of the collective were honored artists of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Mambetova A., Smailov A., People's Artist of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Bakhtygereev M.
At different times, such national artists of the Republic of Kazakhstan worked in the theater as - Kaltaev B., Sattarova S., Seytmetov P., Umurzakova A., Zhakibaev K., Kenzhekov A., honored artists of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Kulambaev M., Bektasova Zh., Demesinov K., Kazakbaeva G., Kadenova L.
In 1992, in connection with the 90th anniversary of the outstanding Kazakh writer and playwright G. Musrepov, the theater was named after him. Since 1996, the theater has been named Academic for its contribution to the development of multinational art of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Over its 65-year history, the Kazakh State Academic Theater for Children and Youth named after G. Musrepova achieved great success, created the basis for the development of creative potential, and is currently one of the leading theater groups in the republic.
The auditorium holds 475 seats. About 270 performances take place annually. In recent years, the theater’s repertoire has been replenished with such performances as: “Sүye bіlsң ...” (“If you love ...”) (auth. E. Khushvaқtov, dir. B. Seitmamytuly), “Bұlbұldar tүnі” (“Nightingale Night” ) (auth. V. Ezhov, transl. A. Sygay, dir. T. Temenov), “Bultirik burik astynda” (Teen Wolf under a hat ”) (auth. K. Mukhamedzhanov, dir. T. Temenov),“ Akan series - Acts ”(auth. G. Musrepov, dir. Zh. Khadzhiev),“ Kyzyl oramaldy the shynarym ”(“ My crawler in a red scarf ”) (auth. Ch. Aitmatov, ins. And dir. T. Temenov) and others.
