Cave (grotto) Kenesary is located at an altitude of 359 meters above sea level, is located in central part of Koshetau mountains, 626 meters from southwestern end of Lake Burabay, 490 meters to east and slightly north of Lake Sulukol, on territory of Borovoe natural park, in Burabay district, Akmola region.
The grotto is composed mainly of granites, which were formed in the process of weathering in the eastern part of the granite rock, rising among bizarre relief forms, including in the form of mattresses lying one above the other (mattress-like joints).
The local landscapes of the granite lowlands in the Kokshetau mountains are very picturesque. Surrounded by four large lakes of Burabay: Shchuchye, Maloye Chebachye, Burabay, Bolshoe Chebachye and Katarkol, in the very heart of the Kokshetau mountains, not far from the Bastion mountains in the forest zone, among tall pines, a small grotto is hidden from human eyes, named in honor of Khan Kenesary Kasymov.
The cave is located in a good place: at its foot lies a sloping stone, from the top of which a beautiful view of the surrounding landscapes opens. The interior of the cave resembles the shape of a yurt, and in the upper part there is an opening that serves as a chimney.
This place is popular with tourists, thanks to the legend associated with Kenesary. In his youth, Kenesary, being a batyr, often went with his squad to the Burabay forests to hunt. In order not to return to headquarters at night, he found shelter from the darkness and bad weather in this cave.
At the entrance to the cave there is a memorial plaque with a quote from the poem by Magzhan Zhumabaev.

In the north of the Kokshetau region there is a large lake surrounded by greenery. It is called Khan's, since the headquarters of Khan Abylay was located here. In 1802, in this place, in the family of Sultan Kasym, Kenesary was born - the future Kazakh khan and a descendant of the great Abylay.
Kenesary Kasymuly became khan in 1841 by decision of the Kazakh nobility. He led the national liberation movement of 1837-1847, which covered all of Kazakhstan. Kenesary was not only the grandson of Abylay, but also the last representative of the khan dynasty of Genghis Khans, who managed to unite the Kazakh clans in the fight against colonization.
Continuing the work of his father Kasym-Sultan, Kenesary spoke out against the construction of Russian fortresses and the oppression of the Kazakh people. His political legacy became a symbol of honor, pride and resilience of the Kazakhs.
However, the fate of Kenesary, like his ideas, was subjected to many trials. His memory inspired generations, but at the same time was repeatedly subjected to oblivion and deliberate distortion. The legend about the connection between Kenesary and this cave is quite plausible.
It is known that he was born in 1802 in this tract and was a passionate hunter. Perhaps this cave served as his shelter during hunting trips.
