The Ayaguz River (Kaz. Ayaguz) flows through the East Kazakhstan and Almaty regions. The length of the river is 492 kilometers, the area of ​​the river basin is about 15,700 square kilometers. Below the town, Ayagoz flows through a semi-desert area. The river flows into the eastern part of Lake Balkhash. It is mainly used for the intake of drinking water in the town of Ayagoz and other settlements, as well as for irrigation of fields, for irrigation of suburban farms.
The banks and the bottom are covered with porphyry pebbles, shale, granite, etc. Ayaguz is the northernmost of the 7 rivers that gave the name to the Semirechye region.
