Dusti square in Dushanbe.

Vacation spots in Dushanbe.

“The new becomes old, then the years will fly by -
And the old will be replaced by new, so it was, so it will always be.
The desert lies like sands, where gardens used to bloom,
But the gardens will replace the desert, hungry for water."

Dusti Square is located between Tekhron and Jalolo Ikromi streets and Rudak Avenue in the central part of Dushanbe, on the north side of the State Library and on the south of Rudaki Square. Translated from Tajik - Maydoni "Dusti") - the main square of the capital of the Republic of Tajikistan, located in the central part of the left bank of the city of Dushanbe, on Rudaki Avenue.
Dusti (Friendship) Square was previously named - until 1997 Ozodi (Freedom) Square, until 1991 - Lenin, and until 1961 Stalin Square. The main square of the capital of the Republic of Tajikistan has changed its appearance several times over the years of its existence.
According to the master plans of Dushanbe in 1966 and 1983 (architects V. Bugaev, I. Golovina, F. Saifiddinov, O. Vasilyeva, N. Ulyanova, engineer A. Soin), a wide green esplanade overlooking the Dushanbinka River was designed.
The main square of Dushanbe, bearing the name of V. I. Lenin for 30 years (1961 - 1991), began to take shape in the 1930s. Its first building was a 2-storey building of the Main Post Office on the axis of Avenue name Lenin.
In 1940 - 1946 a three-story building of the Government House is being built on the square. In 1949, a symbol of the republic was erected in the southern part of the square - an obelisk-column with the emblem of the Tajik SSR (architect S. L. Anisimov, sculptor B. A. Tatarinova).
In 1961, on the western side of the square, a bronze sculpture of V. I. Lenin with a government platform was erected (sculptor T. R. Polyakova, A. S. Rybin). Thus, the formation of Lenin Square is completed. According to the master plan of the city of Dushanbe, 1966, then 1983 (architects V. Bugaev, I. Golovina, F. Saifiddinov, O. Vasilyeva, N. Ulyanova, engineer A. Soin), a wide green esplanade was designed overlooking the river Dushanbinki.
After the independence of the Republic of Tajikistan (1991), a monument to the greatest poet of the East Firdousi (sculptor S. U. Kurbanov, architect B. Abdurakhmanov) appeared on the site of the Lenin monument, and the square was named "Ozodi" (Freedom).
In 1997, a monumental ensemble of the ruler of the first Tajik state (Samanid State) - Ismail Samani with a scepter - a symbol of state power in his raised right hand (the height of the sculpture is 13 meters) was erected here, received the name "Dusti" (Friendship).
The majesty and significance of the square is created by a huge arch with stalactites from the inside, a golden crown on top and a diameter of 5 meters. The height of the structure from the level of the square is 43 meters.
The arch is installed on a high platform, inside which there is a museum-pantheon with an exact copy of the dynastic mausoleum of the Samanids of the 9th - 10th centuries. in Bukhara and the protocol hall. On both sides of the monument there are bronze images of lions, a symbol of the inviolability of the state and the guarantor of peace and harmony in the country.
Behind the arch, along the entire length of the esplanade, there is a cascade of fountains with color and musical compositions. The monument was erected in 1999 in honor of the celebration of the 1100th anniversary of the Samanid state.
