The moraine, flowing lake Demepke is located at an altitude of 3203 meters above sea level in the upper reaches of the western tributary of the Demekpe River, is located on the southern slope of the Dzhungarsky Alatau ridge in the Eskeldinsky district of the Almaty region.
In the upper reaches of the western tributary of the Demekpe, there is a circus, in which the significant Demekpe Lake is located. The area of the lake is 129541 square meters, the perimeter of the lake is 1652 meters.
The length of the lake from southwest to northeast is 620 meters, the largest width in the central part of the lake is 335 meters. To the west of the lake is the eponymous glacier with an area of 3.62 square kilometers.
The length of the Demekpe glacier is 3.35 kilometers. The southern branch of the glacier, through a gap in the sublatitudinal ridge with a length of 2.4 kilometers, flows through the gorge into the Aksu river basin. Thus, the Demekpe glacier belongs to the basin of the Koksu and Aksu rivers, and those, in turn, belong to Lake Balkhash.
The source of the Demekpe glacier is located at an altitude of 3953 meters above sea level. The tongue of the glacier is located at an altitude of 3220 meters above sea level. The western part of the lake is located 310 meters from the tongue of the Demekpe glacier.
2.7 kilometers northeast of Lake Demekpe, there is Upper Demekpe Lake, located at an altitude of 3427 meters above sea level. 2.2 kilometers north of the lake is an unnamed peak 4056 meters above sea level.
