Lake Kette-Kel.

Trip from the settlement of Koytyn to reserve Kugitangtau.

Walk on lake Kette-Kel settlement of Koytyn.

The lake Kette-Kel (Kattakul, Kattakol, Kattakel) the deepest in Turkmenistan, has depth of 59 meters. The lake is on the suburb of the settlement of Koytyn, in its western part at the height of 737 meters above sea level.
The lake is more similar to a reservoir as in a southwest part of a reservoir there is an artificial dam. From North side the lake is filled with rain and snow waters. Length of the lake is 466 meters, width is 380 meters.
Coast are put from clay and loam. The area of the lake Kette-Kel is 25 hectares. Water in this lake is strongly mineralized, and locals consider it medical. However elders call the lake "Dead". Often from its depths terrible sounds reach, and water is painted in red color.
Certainly, it is caused by mineral sources at the bottom of the lake, locals are afraid of the lake, and still sacrifice a chicken or a ram.
