Chalk pillars in Baisary valley.

Trip to Baysary valley on Mangyshlak.

Why do you go away? So that you can come back. So that you can see the place you came from with new eyes and extra colors. And the people there see you differently, too. Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving”

Terry Pratchett. “A Hat Full of Sky”.

Mangyshlak Hiking Tours.

Chalk pillars in Baysary valley are located at an altitude of 18 to 46 meters above sea level, located on eastern part of cliff that encircles Baysary valley, 15.8 kilometers southeast of Mount Bokty, 14.7 kilometers northwest of Karashek saline land, approximately 13.3 kilometers southwest of Soltustik Azu tisteri (Boszhyra valley) in Karakiya district of Mangistau region.
The Baysary valley is a picturesque corner on the Mangyshlak Peninsula, located between Mount Bokty and the Boszhyra valley on the western edge of Ustyurt Plateau. This place is known for its unique chalk formations and harsh but breathtaking nature.
The valley can be reached by dirt roads leading from the Zhanaozen - Beket Ata Mosque highway through the city of Zhanaozen towards the Beket Ata underground mosque. The valley is located in the south-eastern part of Mount Bokty. The main attraction of Baysara is the chalk columns formed as a result of the long-term impact of water and wind on the rocks.
These snow-white formations create an impressive landscape, especially in sunny weather, when the eastern cliffs are well lit. In sunny weather, it is almost impossible to look at the slope of the cliff, which is cut by columns and reflects sunlight.
Chalk shines everywhere. The valley borders on the Karashek saline land and the Boszhyra valley. The chalk pillars of Baysary are a popular place for nature lovers and adventurers. However, due to the lack of developed tourist infrastructure and difficult road conditions, it is recommended to use all-wheel drive vehicles and be prepared for an autonomous trip.
A visit to Baysary is often combined with a tour of nearby attractions, such as the Boszhira valley and Mount Bokty. The Baysary valley is a unique place where you can enjoy the beauty of natural formations and feel the atmosphere of the wild nature of Mangystau. This is an ideal destination for those who seek solitude and want to discover little-known but impressive corners of Kazakhstan.
