Mandai Batyr burial is located at an altitude of 116 meters, located 60 meters from the Tobol channel, 1.4 kilometers from the right (eastern) bank of the main channel of the Tobol River, 1.8 kilometers northwest of the village of Alkau, 2.2 kilometers to the north-east from the village of Boris Romanovka, in the Mendykarinsky district of the Kostanay region.
On the bank of the channel of the Tobol River, the glorious son of the Kazakh people, Mandai Batyr, is buried. At the head of the burial there is a stone weighing about a ton with an inscription in Farsi left on it. Batyr Mandai (1710 - 1803) came from the Uzynkipchak family.
The territory of the Karabalyk region, namely the ancient village of Uzyn, is the place of his birth. The village of Magnai in the Karabalyk region was previously called Mandai, later in Russian it was distorted into Magnai.
The central district mosque of the Kostanay region is named after Mandai Batyr. There are many legends about Mandai Batyr. The fact that Mandai batyr was a brave hero, his participation in the defeat of the Kalmyks is recorded in the annals of times.
Tatikara zhyrau in his epic, which begins with the words “The top of the reed is rare, but the root is strong” in the lines “Deripseli, Mandaidy ait kypshaktagy” speaks specifically about Mandai batyr. In the people's memory, he remained as a talented commander who skillfully resisted the Dzungarian invasions of his native lands.
Under the banner of Abylai Khan, the Mandai army participated in all major battles and campaigns. For some time he even headed Abylai's personal guard. Then he returned to his homeland and, until the very accession of Kazakhstan to Russia, guarded its borders from the raids of the Kalmyks and Bashkirs.
The outposts of Mandai stood in the Kipchak villages: Toguzak, Shadyksai, Ekenshilik, Bylgashi, Taldy, Kayrak, and his headquarters was in the village of Mandai. According to the memoirs of the elders, the gray-eyed, red-haired Mandai batyr was very large, broad-shouldered, strong, with large wide palms, he was a perfect horse rider, weapon, and the art of hand-to-hand combat.
He was born fair-haired, with a high forehead. Aksakals called him "mandayly" - high-browed. Batyr lived a glorious life, died at the age of 93 and was buried in the family cemetery of the Uzyn-Kipchaks near the Magnai station.
