Rivers of Kostanay region.

The Kara-Turgai River (kaz. Karatorgai) flows through the territory of the Kostanay and Karaganda regions in Kazakhstan. The left component of the Turgai River. The Kara-Turgai River is formed by the confluence of the Shilik (right component) and Kanym (left component) rivers at the western slope of the Arganaty ridge to the west of Mount Dondygul.
It flows to the northwest. Southeast of the settlement of Amangeldy, it merges with the Zhaldama River, forming the Turgai River. The length of the river is 284 kilometers, the catchment area is 15.5 000 square kilometers.
The width of the river valley is about 0.2 - 0.5 kilometers in the upper reaches and 1 - 2 kilometers in the lower. Food is rain and ground. About 90% of the runoff is generated by the spring melting of snow. The average annual water discharge at about 20 kilometers from the mouth is 1.93 cubic meters per second.
The waters of the river are used for agricultural needs and for water supply to the town of Arkalyk.
