Salty closed lake Tuzkol and therapeutic mud Agatay are located 22.7 kilometers to the west and slightly north of the Edyge mountains, 20.2 kilometers to the south-west of the village of Sarlyk, 1.2 kilometers from the right (eastern) bank of the Shagyrly Shalynshyk river in the Ulytau district of the Karaganda region.
Lake Tuzkol has a length from the south-east to the north-west of 1.1 kilometers, the width in the central part of the lake is 616 meters. There is a salt spring 500 meters southeast of the lake, which gradually supplies the lake with water.
The northern and northwestern parts of the lake are swampy. The healing mud of the lake has been used for many years by the Zhezkazgan dispensaries for the treatment of skin diseases and diseases of the musculoskeletal system.
But the healing properties of the lake can be tried on the spot. Especially in June-July, when, in the opinion of local residents, is the best time for mud baths. It should be borne in mind that you cannot get involved in such procedures for a long time, especially if you have heart problems.
