Guide to historical places near Lake Issyk-Kul.
Monument to Kusein Karasaev is located at an altitude of 1648 meters above sea level, in southwestern part of museum and memorial complex of N.M. Przhevalsky and K. Karasaev, in eastern part of village of Pristan Przhevalsky, 12 kilometers southwest of city of Karakol, 609 meters from Przhevalsky Bay (Lake Issyk-Kul), 1.5 kilometers from mouth of Karakol River, on territory subordinate to city administration of city of Karakol, Issyk-Kul region.
On the territory of the Przhevalsky museum and memorial complex, located on the shore of the picturesque Lake Issyk-Kul, a monument to the outstanding linguist, teacher and Turkologist Kusein Karasaev was erected. This monument became a tribute to the man who devoted his life to studying the Kyrgyz language, compiling dictionaries and developing national philology.
The monument is a granite sculpture, on which the scientist stands at full height while delivering a scientific report at the professor's chair. The monument is installed on a granite pedestal. The memorial plaque is engraved with the name and "Karasai uuly Kusein".
Being at the monument, I would like to add words of gratitude for his contribution to the development of Kyrgyz science and culture. The sculptural image conveys the wisdom and concentration of the scientist, emphasizing his dedication to the study of his native language.
The choice of location for the monument is not accidental: the museum and memorial complex of Przhevalsky, and now K. Karasaev, is a historically significant place, uniting the memory of great researchers and thinkers. Here, among the mountains and lake expanses, the works of Kusein Karasaev acquire a special symbolism, continuing to inspire new generations to study language, history and culture.
The opening of the monument was an important event, attended by representatives of the scientific community, public figures, students and local residents. They honored the memory of the scientist, noting his outstanding contribution to the development of Kyrgyz philology, lexicography and the preservation of national heritage.
In accordance with the Resolution of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic No. 106 of March 17, 2001, the Ministry of Education and Culture, as well as the Issyk-Kul Regional Administration, were entrusted with the construction of a memorial in honor of Kusein Karasaev.
The monument, erected next to his grave, is a stone bust of the scientist in a waist-length section, crowned with a tundyuk, symbolizing national identity and heritage. The grand opening of the memorial took place on November 14, 2002, with the participation of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Askar Akayev.
