"In 1832, Khakkuly defeated the Sayaks, captured their leaders Atantay and Tailak and brought them to Kokand, imposed yasak on the Chiriks, Bassyz, Monaldyrs and founded Kurtka. The fortification of Tuguztarau was built even earlier. Atatay and his brother Tailak did not want to submit to the Kokandans and after being released from captivity, they migrated to Ili to the Kirghiz of the Great Horde, but later, plundered by the Kaisaks, they returned to their ancestral camps."

Monument to outstanding figures in Naryn region.
Monument to Tailak Batyr is located at an altitude of 2025 meters above sea level, on corner of Lenin and Azhybek Baiyr streets, 32 meters from Lenin street, opposite Apple Garden, 306 meters southwest of left bank of Naryn River in western part of Naryn city.
On July 24, 2002, the grand opening of the monument to Tailak Batyr, dedicated to the hero who contributed to the struggle for freedom of the Kyrgyz people, took place in Naryn. The opening of the monument was part of the events dedicated to the 200th anniversary of Tailak Batyr's birth.
The author of the sculpture was Z. Zhamangulov, who also created the monument to Musa Baetov, opened a week earlier. Tailak Batyr (1796 – 1838) became famous in the XIXth century as the leader of the national liberation movement of the Naryn Kyrgyz against the Kokand Khanate and the Qing Empire.
In honor of this historical figure, the Tailak Batyr Mausoleum was restored in the Naryn Region last year. It is located on the right bank of the Naryn River, between the villages of Zhangy Talap and Ak-Tal. The Naryn Border Detachment of the Main Border Guard Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of the Kyrgyz Republic was named after Tailak Batyr in recognition of his services to the people.
On July 27, 2002, large-scale national events dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the legendary Tailak Batyr and the 100th anniversary of the outstanding composer and performer Musa Baetov began on the shore of the high-mountain lake Son-Kul.
Representatives of national cultural centers, public organizations, political parties, creative associations, as well as the country's leadership gathered for the celebration to pay tribute to these outstanding personalities.
