Climbing in Northern Tien-Shan.

“What a pleasure it is to contemplate the majestic mountain ranges and be above the clouds! What else in the world can be as integral, as complete as climbing mountains."

The summit of the Soviet climbers is located at an altitude of 4378.8 meters above sea level, located in the Maloalmatinsky spur on the northern slope of the Zailiysky Alatau ridge, on the territory of the Ile-Alatau park in the Medeu district of Almaty.
On the northeastern slope of the Soviet climbers peak is the Tourist glacier. The Tourist Glacier occupies the northern slope of a lateral spur extending from the Molodaya Gvardiya massif (Bolshealmatinsky spur) to the east, deep into the left Talgar depression.
The peak of the Soviet climbers stands out on this spur. The glacier is a plume type. The summit is located in the watershed ridge between the sources of the Turistov rivers and further Levy Talgar and Kyzylsay and further Bolshaya Almatinka.
The ridge stretches from west to northeast and east for 11 kilometers. Its western part begins at an altitude of 3307 meters above sea level near the confluence of the Ozernaya and Kyzylsay rivers. The eastern part ends at the mouth of the Tourist River with tributaries originating from the Toguzak and Constitution glaciers at an altitude of 2937 meters above sea level.
The ridge contains the main peaks of the Young Guard 4398.3 meters above sea level, the Soviet climbers and SSU (Sverdlovsk State University) 4522 meters above sea level. From the Tourist Pass, which is located at an altitude of 4039 meters above sea level, a majestic panorama of the ridge opens up.
Individual ascents and traverses of the peaks also begin from here. The summit of the Soviet climbers has the Western and Main summits.
