Lake Arasan (Small Rakhmanovskoye Lake) is located between the Katunsky ridge in the north and the South Altaysky ridge in the south, 3 kilometers northwest of Lake Rakhmanovskoye, on the territory of the Katon-Karagai Natural National Park in the east of the Katon-Karagai district of the East Kazakhstan region.
The lake is located at an altitude of 1740 meters above sea level. The Arasan River flows into the lake in the east and flows out in the western part. In the central part of the lake there is a small picturesque island overgrown with fir, 156 meters long and 67 meters wide.
The width of the lake from south-east to north-west is 405 meters, length from north to south is 518 meters. For the first time, the lake appears in the photographs of the Russian photographer, actor and public figure of the early XX century Borisov Sergei Ivanovich (10.15.1867, Simbirsk – 08.31.1931, Barnaul), which he captured in 1910 during an expedition to Gorny Altai.
