Lake Aulie-kol is located at an altitude of 2,636.3 meters above sea level, located in the Auliekol tract, in the upper reaches of the Karakystak valley, on the northern slope of the Kyrgyz Alatau, 289 meters north of the channel of the small Buzulgankol river, 3.5 kilometers (along straight line) to the east and slightly south of the Aktash Perviy pass with a height of 2,433.7 meters above sea level, 32.6 kilometers (in a straight line) to the south and slightly west of the Merke village in the Merken district of the Zhambyl region.
The length of the lake Aulie-kol from south to north is 142 meters, the greatest width in the central part is 153 meters. The lake is fresh, flowing; from the north side, underground streams flowing from the Kyzylkyya ridge are filtered into the lake.
The southern coast is gentle, the northern, eastern and western shores are in the thickets of juniper (juniper).
