The river Koktal is in Kerbulak district the district of the Alamaty region. Koktal is formed the river from merge of two rivers Aksu and Satyla which originate in mountains Toksanbay.
Extent of the river Koktal makes only 33 kilometers.
The river flows through the settlement of Araltobe and in the neighborhood of the settlement Rudnichnyi flows into the river to Koksu.
Passing the mountain Koyandy the river flows in the intermountain hollow formed by mountains Altyn-Emel in the south, the mountains Koyandy in the north and mountains Kotyrtay in the West.
