“Moreover, the very business of traveling for a person sincerely devoted to it presents the greatest temptation with a daily change of impressions, an abundance of novelty, and the awareness of the benefit to science. Physical difficulties, once they have passed, are easily forgotten and only further highlight the joyful moments of success and happiness in memories.”

Trolleybuses in Naryn.

Trolleybus service in Naryn has become a symbolic landmark due to the city’s status as the administrative center of the region. The system was launched in 1994 and is a relatively small network with a route length of about 4-5 kilometers. One or two trolleybuses usually operate on the line, and their schedule is limited: transport operates until 19:00.
This unique transportation system in a small town is both a utilitarian solution and a local feature that attracts the attention of residents and visitors to the region. Trolleybus service began with a single line along Lenin Street - from the intersection with Mukash Isakova Street to the bus station.
At the end of the route, a parking lot for trolleybuses was equipped. The service started on December 30, 1994. In the spring of 2008, trolleybus service was temporarily suspended. During this period, the installation of the second section of the route was completed, extending the line from Mukash Isakova Street to the stop near the local police department (Raimilitsiya).
Since September 2008, trolleybuses have started running again, including the new section. At the moment, trolleybus service is focused on transporting schoolchildren during school hours, so the route is suspended in the summer. The line is limited to one street - Lenin Street, connecting the stops "Ulitsa Lenina" and "Raimilitsiya".
Since the launch of trolleybus service in Naryn, the city's fleet has been replenished mainly with used trolleybuses transferred from Bishkek. In December 1994, six overhauled ZiU-682V trolleybuses arrived in Naryn from Bishkek. In 2003, the Naryn fleet was replenished with four trolleybuses: two ZiU-682V manufactured in 1985 and two ZiU-682V [B00] manufactured in 1986.
On January 11, 2023, the Naryn trolleybus department purchased four ZiU-682G-018 [G0R] trolleybuses of the 2003 model with numbers 1527, 1531, 1532, 1533 at an auction. These vehicles, previously used in Bishkek, were tested and put on the route on January 23, 2023.
On September 12, 2024, as part of the liquidation of trolleybus traffic in Bishkek, the Bishkek City Hall transferred six trolleybuses to Naryn. These deliveries made it possible to maintain the operability of the trolleybus service in Naryn, despite the limited capacity to renew the fleet.
