Ungirkora Cave is located in Kaskyrsai Gorge (Sukhoye Gorge) in Sholak Mountains, within Altyn-Emel Nature Park in Kerbulak District of Zhetysu Region.

It is a fascinating creation of nature. The entrance to the grotto is approximately 20 meters high, with a large platform in front. The cave itself is up to 5 meters in diameter, with a semicircular roof. Several decades ago, a colony of bats took up residence in the grotto, resulting in the floor being covered with a thick layer of guano.
Guano can accumulate for centuries. It is one of the most effective organic fertilizers in the world due to its high nitrogen and phosphorus content. In dry caves, dust from old guano can contain fungal spores. If the grotto is heavily dusted and has a strong, distinctive odor, it's best not to linger there for long or wear a mask to avoid inhaling the dust.
Paleontologists speculate that a small tribe of people may have lived here during the Stone Age, given the carefully polished walls and natural stone arrangement. The cave once sheltered local shepherds from the elements, and a flock of 500 sheep could fit inside.
